Donna Lochmann, a dedicated rescuer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, came upon a thin, sad-eyed pup sitting in front of a house. His ribs were showing, and his injured back paw made it hard for him to move.
The dog’s eyes brightened up when she approached. His tail wagged as he walked towards her, knowing she was there to help. Lochmann held him close, and he snuggled into her.
The pup, later named Nico New Beginnings, looked at her with gratitude. She didn’t need a leash; he was ready to go with her. Carrying him to her Jeep, she snuggled with him in the passenger seat. Nico finally felt safe, ready for his new life.

Nico Gets The Love He Lacked All Along
