Looking for a Dachshund in Iowa? This directory brings together current website leads, published locations, and contact details to help you start your search. Dachshunds come in standard and miniature sizes and in smooth, long, and wire coats, so ask which size and coat a litter is and what the parents weigh rather than choosing by the breed name alone.
How we choose and review these listings
We reviewed the businesses’ own websites and published contact information for this update. Listings need a usable current website or primary-source page with Dachshund information and a relevant regional location. Where a program’s current Dachshund plans are unclear, that limitation is stated in its entry.
This is a website-based directory, not a ranking or an endorsement. We have not visited these premises or independently verified breeding practices, health-test claims, availability, prices, or guarantees. Telephone numbers and email addresses are checked against published sources, not by calling or emailing the businesses. Confirm the details and request original records before paying a deposit.

What to ask before choosing a puppy
- Can I see the parents’ original DNA and screening results? Ask your veterinarian which tests are relevant for the variety, such as eye testing and, for wirehairs, Lafora disease; a general claim of “health tested” does not show what was tested.
- What do you know about back problems in the parents’ lines? Dachshunds are prone to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so ask about affected relatives and how the breeder selects for sound backs.
- If the puppy is dapple, are both parents dapple? Breeding two dapples together can produce double dapples, which carry a higher risk of eye and hearing problems.
- Where was the litter born and raised, and who cared for it? Arrange a visit or live video conversation, and ask about meeting the mother and seeing the puppies in their usual surroundings.
- What is the total price, when is the deposit payable, and is it refundable? Read the written agreement, registration terms, health provisions, and return policy before sending money.
- What veterinary examination, vaccination, and parasite-treatment records come with the puppy? Ask when the next veterinary appointment is due and keep copies of the paperwork.
Are puppies available now?
A working website does not mean a litter is currently available. Contact the business about current and planned litters, waiting lists, and pickup timing. Older prices, litter dates, and availability claims have been removed because they can change quickly.
What changed in this review?
This directory is new in October 2026. Listings were selected from breeders’ own websites that publish Dachshund information and a location in Iowa; sellers whose pages only advertise delivery to the state were left out.
