This is my second Pit Bull rescue which I got from a Manhattan kill shelter. The first rescue was about 5 years old and very laid back. The most affectionate dog I've ever owned. She passed on and we got a 2nd Rescue which we have now. We previously raised German Shepherds and the Pit is a much cuddlier, sit on your lap, sleep in your bed type of dog.
I wouldn't want another breed!
Prejudice about this breed is dangerous for your dog. Point in Case - a high school friend of mine from many, many years ago invited me to walk with her and her 2 Great Danes. She was extremely nervous when I got there, worried that her 2 would gang up on my dog. Well a fight did ensue and the woman used her walking stick to beat my dog on the head and back. I was in such shock that I couldn't react. Then she told me it was because my dog had "locking jaws". She overreacted because of these stories.
My poor dog just looked at her in fear then walked up and licked her hand.
