I have a 6 month old female Caucasian Ovcharka named Storm. And I must say, being with dogs all my life (I have owned a Chow Chow, German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, a Mastino, a Pitbull and several other small breed dogs), the protective instinct of this breed is remarkable. At such an early age and with barely a couple of weeks since I brought her home, she has displayed her fantastic inherent urge to defend me and my mom from strangers. However, I do agree that this breed needs extensive socialization and obedience training for an owner to thoroughly enjoy this breed. Lack of training and socialization on a mature CO is a disaster waiting to happen.
