A change in the Law could see owners who's dog injure a human or kills a Guide Dog face up to 10 years in jail.
A proposal brought out today, in which the public has a say, is open until 1st Sept. If enough people back it then the law could get the go ahead next year.
At the moment, if your dog is found to be out of control, you can be fined up to £5,000 and face 6 months in jail.
There is an astonishing 210,000 attacks and 6,000 hospital visits each year due to dogs. 5,000 of these attacks are on postmen/women and telecom engineers. There have been 16 deaths since 2005.
It applies to any out of control dog - regardless of breed.
